YIELD.

Release notes

What changed in each beta build of Yield Strength, newest first. To see which build you have, open Profile in the app and scroll to the bottom.

Version 0.1.1 (60)

October 16, 2026

  • Finish a workout and Yield offers a few stretches for the muscles you just trained, in 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Set your usual length in Profile, or ask the coach.
  • Rest fits the work: about a minute after a lift that worked your core or grip, time for plate changes, and a little more on your heaviest sets.
  • On Course shows fat and muscle since you started, from one scale, and only claims a change your scale can really show. Small fat changes show with "about".
  • Your next waypoint is always within 90 days, with a monthly checkpoint between waypoints. Waist entries take two readings and save the average.
  • Paired exercises are both labelled, with an arrow to the one to do next. Start any exercise when you're ready, and choose 5, 10 or 15-minute sessions.
  • Set your own bar and the plates you own, and every suggested weight uses them.
  • Pick one main aim and up to two more. Your plan shows where you're headed, how you'll train and what counts each day.
  • A library of 47 stretches and foam-rolling moves, and "How to do it" steps on every exercise and stretch.
  • Plus fixes, including the Apple Health permission text and the coach's calorie advice.

Version 0.1.1 (54)

October 10, 2026

  • Each set logs with one tap on how it felt: Light, Good, Heavy or Couldn't finish. The card shows what to do next.
  • Rest follows the workout: the full rest before your first working set, no rest call mid-pair, and nothing after the last set.
  • Paired exercises alternate cleanly, and the coach checks in once per pair. Barbell sets show the plates for each side.
  • In a muscle-building block, big lifts aim for 6–8 reps and accessories for 8–12. A deload week makes loaded lifts about 10% lighter.
  • A timed stretch workout on the Strength tab. Stretching never counts as lifting.
  • Your day shows as pennants: big levers and small trims. Two trims at gold can lift a short-sleep day to gold.
  • Your calorie target is never the safety floor, and when it's set for a safer pace every screen, including the map, shows the same honest finish date.
  • Your scale has its own page, with weight read as a trend and impossible body-fat jumps set aside.
  • Exercise minutes can't be pulled below what Apple Health records.
  • Plus many fixes to the coach, which now only describes lifts you actually did.

Version 0.1.1 (33)

October 2, 2026

  • On Course: a new tab showing where your training and habits are heading. Rank what you're aiming for, chart a heading, and choose a sailboat, jet or rocket.
  • Every day earns a tier, from Not yet to Platinum, and says why. A habit with no reading never counts against you.
  • Benchmarks: pick the lifts you're proud of and see whether you're holding them, in Progress.
  • More apps through Apple Health: sleep, food and workouts from apps like Oura, WHOOP, MyFitnessPal and Lose It now count. A workout recorded by two apps counts once.
  • An easier start: your first workout is one tap away and built around the equipment you have.
  • Pregnancy: turn on Pregnant in Profile and Yield steps back from planning your training.
  • Plus many fixes to the coach and the workout screen.

Version 0.1.1 (32)

September 22, 2026

  • Your coach's check-in names the same next exercise the screen does, including one you already did during a paired rest, and says so when everything's done.
  • A plan card's button either starts or adds the plan, or tells you why it couldn't.

Version 0.1.1 (31)

September 22, 2026

  • Barbell jumps match the plates you actually load.
  • If you own more than one set of dumbbells, your coach keeps track of all of them. When a lift needs more than your preferred set goes, the app moves you to the heavier set and names it.
  • Type a weight heavier than any dumbbell you own, and the app asks before logging it, even on an exercise you've never done.
  • When the next weight is limited by the dumbbells you own, the advice says so, and an easy set at your heaviest dumbbell reads "Stay at 30 lb".

Version 0.1.1 (30)

September 22, 2026

  • Paired exercises: the heading now just says "Paired: alternate these", and the shared shading on both halves is easier to see.
  • Undo last set also takes back a personal record the undone set had set, so a mistyped weight can't linger as your best.
  • Everything from build 29 is included: undo last set, paired blocks, clearer advice wording, and Start over on holds.

Version 0.1.1 (29)

September 22, 2026

  • Logged a set by mistake? Tap Undo last set on that row. The set, its rest and any advice it produced all go together.
  • Paired exercises now sit together as one block, with a heading that says to alternate them and a clear mark on whichever one is next.
  • When the app has already set your next weight, the advice says so: "Set to 20 lb — change the weight (down 5 lb)" instead of reading like a suggestion.
  • A false start on a hold can be started over from the paused screen, and the hold screen says up front that it counts past the target.

Version 0.1.1 (28)

September 21, 2026

  • Profile now tells you what your phone actually allows for notifications.
  • If they are off, one tap takes you to the place that turns them back on.
  • If you have never been asked, your coach asks once, after a workout.

Version 0.1.1 (27)

September 21, 2026

  • The end-of-rest alert now reaches you even when a Focus is on. Before this it was delivered silently, so if you train in the evening with Personal or Sleep Focus running, you never heard it.
  • Your workout reminders and your coach's call-outs get through a Focus the same way.
  • Coming back into the app no longer clears the "Rest is over" notification before you have seen it.

Version 0.1.1 (26)

September 20, 2026

  • The rest timer keeps counting while you are out of the app or your phone is locked. Come back mid-rest and it shows the time actually left, not the time left when you put the phone down.
  • Your phone tells you when a rest ends while you are away from the screen.
  • A timed hold counts the same way, so a plank timed with the phone on the floor is the hold you actually did.

Version 0.1.1 (25)

September 20, 2026

  • Your coach describes your training from what you actually logged: how many sessions, when you last trained, and which lifts you have done.
  • Your coach is more accurate about dates.
  • Its read of your recovery stays current through the day.
  • Sleep from your tracker is read more accurately.

Version 0.1.1 (24)

September 20, 2026

  • Your coach now varies how it trains each muscle across the week.
  • Sleep is read as the night you actually slept, even when you open the app late at night.

Version 0.1.1 (23)

September 19, 2026

  • The first time you talk to your coach after an update, it says in a sentence or two what changed in how it plans and runs your sessions. Each change is mentioned once and never again.
  • Beta testers can let the coach start the conversation again the same day, instead of waiting until tomorrow, from Profile.
  • The beta testing tools now sit together in one section in Profile, closed until you open it.

Version 0.1.1 (22)

September 19, 2026

  • A balance check: stand on each leg with your phone against your chest while a level shows how steady you are. It's offered every couple of weeks, and your results appear in Progress. You can also start one any time from Profile.
  • Your coach keeps a single-leg movement, like a split squat, lunge or step-up, in each week. You can turn this off in Profile.
  • New balance movements.
  • Planks and other holds tick each second and beep for the last three, so you don't have to watch the screen.
  • Search exercises by type or muscle, like "balance", "single leg" or "glutes".
  • Hold a plank long enough and you might hear something unexpected.

Version 0.1.1 (21)

September 18, 2026

  • Set a weekly split with your coach, like full body, upper/lower or push/pull/legs. Each workout takes the next day in the rotation.
  • See what's up next on the Train screen and in Blocks, and plan it with your coach in one tap.
  • Heavy lifts are paired with a small exercise for other muscles, which you do while the heavy lift rests. Choose "Train straight through" to keep them apart.
  • When your next barbell set needs different plates, your rest includes time to change them.
  • Your workout summary says how you felt going in, in words rather than a number.
  • Planks and other holds show a full-screen countdown that you can pause with a tap.

Version 0.1.1 (17)

September 17, 2026

  • See which version you're on at the bottom of Profile.
  • Tap the version to read what changed in your build.

Version 0.1.1 (16)

September 16, 2026

  • Rest between sets now depends on the exercise and on how hard the set was.
  • The rest timer says why a rest is that long, for example "heavy lift" or "easy set".
  • Tap the rest timer to make rests shorter or longer for the rest of your workout.
  • Ask your coach for shorter or longer rests and the timer changes to match.

Version 0.1.1 (15)

September 16, 2026

  • Tell your coach which dumbbells you own, including adjustable sets, and weight advice sticks to weights you can actually pick up.
  • Dictated coach messages now clear after you send them.
  • You can send a message while the coach is still replying.
  • Closing the coach keeps anything you had typed.
  • The coach check-in in your workout starts folded up. Tap it to read more.
  • The rest timer has its own spot at the top of the workout screen.

Version 0.1.1 (14)

September 16, 2026

  • Dumbbell weight advice lands on weights you can load, never below your lightest dumbbell.
  • Weight changes show both the amount and the new weight, for example "down 5 lb to 20 lb".
  • Finished exercises are clearly marked, and the app checks before moving you on.
  • Bodyweight movements come in a better order in your workout.

Version 0.1.1 (13)

September 14, 2026

  • Fixes to the weekly goal card.
  • The coach talks about effort in plain words instead of gym shorthand.
  • Better weight advice for bodyweight exercises.
  • Finished exercises stay visible in your workout.

Version 0.1.1 (12)

September 13, 2026

  • Streaks and workout reminders are now on by default. You can turn either off in Profile.

Version 0.1.1 (11)

September 13, 2026

  • A motivational quote on the home screen.
  • Clearer wording on Turnaround Day.

Version 0.1.1 (10)

September 11, 2026

  • Training streaks and workout reminder notifications.
  • A weekly goal card on the home screen.
  • Gym photo backgrounds.

Version 0.1.0 (9)

September 10, 2026

  • Behind-the-scenes measurement of which screens get used, to guide what we build next. It records screen names and counts only.

Version 0.1.0 (8)

September 8, 2026

  • Timed holds like planks and dead hangs, with a countdown you can hold past.
  • The coach understands how long you held.
  • Floor exercises say which way to face.
  • The coach check-in card recovers when a check-in fails.

Version 0.1.0 (7)

September 2, 2026

  • Barbell advice never goes below the empty bar.
  • Warm-ups start with the empty bar and help find your working weight.
  • Your effort target follows your training goal everywhere in the app.
  • The app asks about effort in plain words.
  • Changing your plan mid-workout keeps the workout you're in.

Versions 0.1.0 (1) to (6)

July 28 to August 28, 2026

  • The first beta builds: workout logging, the AI coach, history and progress charts.
  • Build 4 added clearing your training history. Build 5 made the coach chat smoother. Build 6 made your profile and equipment follow you to a new phone.
