YIELD.

An AI coach that opens with a plan, not "hey"

Published 10 September 2026

Open most AI chat apps and you get the same thing: a cursor blinking in an empty conversation, waiting for you to type the first word and explain what you want. For a coaching app, that's backwards — you opened the app to train, not to write a prompt. Sitting there typing "hey, what should I do today" every single session is exactly the kind of friction a basic logger already has.

What actually happens when you open Yield

Open the Train tab with nothing already going, and the coach has already looked at your recent training and how you're recovering, and it leads with that — a short read on where you're at, followed by a proposed session you can accept and start. You never have to ask. The conversation starts on the coach's side, not yours.

Why it doesn't do this every single time you tap the app

This only fires once per day — the coach doesn't re-greet you if you close the chat and reopen it mid-workout, and it won't do it twice if you check the app again an hour later. Partly that's cost (a full read of your training history isn't free to generate), and partly it's just annoying — nobody wants to be re-greeted by their own coach five times in an afternoon.
